Milton’s Teens’ Top Ten

The Milton Public Library and Milton Middle School Library Media Center are working together to create a Milton’s Teens’ Top Ten, showcasing the top ten young adult books read by Milton’s teens. This is similar to the Young Adult Library Services Association (YALSA) and their yearly Teens’ Top Ten, where teens nominate and choose their favorite books of the previous year.

A list of 24 nominees for Milton’s Teens’ Top Ten has been compiled based on popularity both at MPL and the MMS Library Media Center, as well as books that have received awards in the past year by YALSA. All nominees were either published in 2010 or 2011.

Bookmarks with all 24 nominees will be available at the Milton Middle School LMC, the Milton High School Library, and the Milton Public Library starting the week of December 12th.

Students are encouraged to read at least three of the nominees and they will have a chance to vote on their favorites starting in February. The voting will determine the top ten books according to Milton’s young adults.

Important dates to remember (subject to change):

Week of December 12: Bookmarks with the 24 nominees will be available.

Week of February 6: Ballots will be available at MHS, MMS, and the Milton Public Library.

February 20: Ballots will be collected.

February 24: The top ten books will be announced!
